FOSTER TO ADOPT PROGRAM - FIND OUT MORE

WHAR's foster to adopt (FTA) program is for individuals who would like to be a foster parent to one of our felines until such time as we can find a suitable forever home or they decide to adopt the feline themselves.  You may select one of our felines from our rescue and we will transport the animal to your home after completion of our application .  You foster the feline for seven days to determine if it is a perfect fit for your family.  After seven days, you decide between adopting the feline or fostering it until a better matched family is found to adopt it. The pros of this program is you have a longer time to spend with the feline to evaluate whether it is a good fit for your family.  You will have a better idea of its personality and are able to see the feline in your home interacting with your family.  The con is that if you decide to return the feline, you still have to foster it until we find a better fit. 

After spending one week with the feline, our foster-to-adoption liaison will contact you to set up a time to finalize the adoption.  This is usually done within three days of deciding whether or not to adopt after the initial week. The feline is the property of WHAR until we receive your signed contract and payment.  In order to be approved for this program, you must submit an application that includes a veterinary reference (if applicable) and personal references. The foster-to-adopt agreement requires compliance with all of the foster-to-adopt terms and conditions.  If you are interested, fill out the application on the forms page.  Becoming pre-approved will give you both the option of traditional adoption or foster-to-adopt.
